Ashtanga Yoga
Ashtanga Yoga is so much more than a series of postures, it’s a journey to the heart of your authentic self.
This method invites you on a transformative journey of self-discovery and self-mastery. It provides a comprehensive and systematic pathway to achieving physical strength, mental clarity, emotional balance, and spiritual growth.
This dynamic practice integrates breath, movement, Drishti (gazing point) into a moving meditation , enhancing our mindfulness and presence in every moment.
Ashtanga isn’t merely about performing physical postures; it’s about cultivating an understanding of the self, delving deeper into our essence, and releasing what no longer serves us.
History of Ashtanga Yoga
Ashtanga Yoga has a rich and fascinating history. It traces its roots back to an ancient manuscript called the Yoga Korunta, believed to have been written by sage Vamana Rishi.
This practice was introduced to the modern world by the late Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, who studied under the great yoga master Sri T. Krishnamacharya.
He passed his wisdom to his grandson Sharath Jois, who taught students all over the world before passing away in 2024.
Teaching Method
Mysore-style is the method in which the teacher guides each student by giving them postures beginning with the sun salutations, followed by a standing sequence - primary, intermediate, or advanced until the 6th series - and closed with a finishing sequence.
Each posture in the sequence must be memorized and mastered before the student will be allowed to proceed to the next posture in the sequence.
This is what makes Ashtanga unique; everyone can practice at their own pace with their individual abilities and needs. You can imagine it like a 1:1 class in a container of a group class.

Yin Yoga
Yin Yoga is much more than lying on a pillow!
In this slow paced yoga style the postures get held for a couple of minutes with as little muscle tension as possible.
Instead, the focus is set on the connective tissues like fascia, ligaments, tendons and joins.
Internally you learn how to relax from the inside out through imagination, soft and long exhalations, as well as gravity plus time.
The practice is meant to activate the parasympathetic nervous system, which is responsible for relaxation, regeneration, rejuvenation, security and calmness.
Especially in western society - with its busy lifestyles and focus on doing, doing, doing - it is important to relearn, cultivate and integrate relaxation and the state of being: to do nothing without feeling guilt.
This practice invites you to treat yourself with beautiful sensitive sessions of inner explorations and to accept yourself as you truly are!
Yin Yoga draws its roots from Traditional Chinese Medicine [TCM] where the focus is on the meridians, organs, 5 elements and seasons.
It is the perfect complement to a yang yoga style like Ashtanga where the focus is on the lengthening of the muscles, actions and inner heat.
In this slow-paced yoga style, the postures are held for several minutes with as little muscle tension as possible. The focus is primarily on the connective tissues—fascia, ligaments, tendons, and joints—rather than the muscles.
History of Yin Yoga
Yin Yoga was developed in the late 1970s by Paulie Zink, a martial artist and yoga teacher.
Zink combined his knowledge of Taoist Yoga and Qigong with his expertise in martial arts to create a new style of yoga that emphasized holding poses for longer periods of time. Zink believed that by holding poses for longer, students could access deeper layers of connective tissue and stimulate the flow of qi, or life force, throughout the body, meridians and organs.
